A
  • Expanded networks and relationships - social networks has spread across geographical boundaries through increased travel, migration and international trade by enabling virtual communities and online relationships
  • Increased trust and reciprocity - virtual communities and social networks creates opportunities for cross - cultural exchange and cooperation. It also raises concerns about trust as these communications happen offline often talking without knowledge of their face
  • Shifting norms and values - As a consequence of globalisation, culture, norms and values become hybridised as shared experiences tie the world together showing a standarisation in cultural expressions. Furthermore, different methods of communication creates developing norms and values such as the normalisation of assault in the game second life compared to reality (Boellstorff 2008)
  • Expanded access to information and opportunities globally
