Hostile Aggression?
A
Angry and impulsive aggression. Accompanied by physiological arousal (eg heart rate increase). This type of aggression may be physical or verbal.

Instrumental Aggression?
A
Uses aggression to achieve goals. It is planned and not usually accompanied by physiological arousal. It can be physical or verbal and usually used to achieve a response from another.

Violent Aggression?
A
Using physical force to cause injury to other people. (All violence = aggressive, but all aggression ≠ violence)

Verbal Aggression?
A
Using words to cause psychological harm. Can be instrumental (eg to win an argument) or hostile (eg impulsively sending an angry text)
