Does someone’s height affect their body weight?
Generally the taller you are the heavier you are whereas the smaller you are the more likely they are going to weigh lighter.
What is the defintion of bone structure?
People with a heavier bone structure would normally be heavier in weight. Whereas if your bone structure is lighter the more likely you are going to weigh less.
What is muscle girth?
People with bigger mucles will weight more. Muscles weigh the most out of the the three body compositions.
Does gender matter when it comes to optimum weight?
For women and men of the same height, the man is likely to have a higher optimum body weight, because of their heavier bone structure and bigger muscle girth.
Does being overweight affect your optimum weight?
Just because a sportsperson is overweight doesn’t always mean they are overweight in fat. This is usually more likely to be muscle because of their height or possibly even depending on your sport.
Do different sports require different optimum weights?
Yes, this is because some sports require different types of body shapes. For example a long distance runner needs to have a lower percentage of body fat so they don’t have to carry it which is why they are usually quite tall and skinny so they can run for longer.
What are somatotypes?
There are 3 different types of body types when it comes to sport.
What is an endomorph body type?
Extreme endomorph bodies are usually for people who are sumo wrestlers and require a lot more fat on their body to out strengthen their opponents off the mat.
What is a mesomorph body type?
Whereas mesomorph body types are usually people who have a lot more muscle on their body and not a lot of fat. This is usually for sports such as body builders.
What is a ectomorph body type?
Ectomorph body types are usually for people who are a lot taller and do not have any sort of fat or muscle on their body. This is because either genetics or size.
What is the definition of metabolic rate?
The rate at which metabolic processes take place; the rate at which a body uses up energy.
Does being younger affect gaining weight?
Yes, this is why some people may eat less food but actually put on weight, while others appear to be able to eat anything without putting on any weight at all.
How many calories does an average male need per day?
An average man will need about 2500 calories per day.
How many calories does an average female need per day?
While an average woman will need about 2000 calories per day.
