Diet is an essential part of providing our bodies with the energy we need to work and exercise, and the nutrients required to repair body tissues. To maintain our body weight the number of calories in your diet should be the same as the number of calories used through metabolic processes and physical activity.

How do your activity levels have an effect on your lifestyle choices?

A

Location and travel requirements, lack of access to facilities, cost of classes or equipment and time. Now a days everything costs a lot of money which is not easy to afford. Facilities also is hard to find especially for people who live near seasides and beach areas whereas someone who lives closer to a town it will be easier to find something like a club close enough to where you live.

What are recreational drugs?

A

Split into two categories legal and illegal. Legal drugs include caffeine found in tea, coffee and energy drinks, nicotine from smoking and ethanol more commonly known as alcohol. Illegal drugs such as heroin, cocaine, LSD, amphetamines, ecstasy and cannabis are not accepted in society.

What are the effects of smoking?

A

As you would expect, there is no positive impact of smoking, but there are many harmful effects on your health. Stopping smoking does reduce the risk of these and the earlier you stop the better it’s for their health. It also makes your breathing shorter. As well as breathing your lung capacity will be reduced.

What are the negative effects of alcohol?

A
  1. Affect the way your brain works, changing your behaviour and making it harder for you to think clearly.
  2. Lead to liver damage
  3. Damage your heart and circulatory system causing high blood pressure

What are the positive lifestyle choices - the benefits?

A

A healthy lifestyle offers two types of benefits - things people want to gain, for example increased mobility, and things people want to prevent, for example becoming overweight which may result in longer term health issues.
