venlafaxine- effexor
- do not give to HTN pt and s/s: sex dysfunction

3rd line treatment
increase nor ep and serotonin and blocking acth in the brain
- cheaper
side effects: wt gain, anticholinergic effects (not good for elderly)
get a baseline ECG prior it can
watch for slowing cardiac conduction
worry about OD do not give if suicide risk is high
MAOI’s
what do you not eat?
can you use it with other SSRI or st johns?
3rd line treatment
examples: Azilect rasagiline, selegiline (elderpryl)
they inhibit monoaoxidase which usually uptakes serotonin
yogurt, cured meats, aged cheese –> HTN
grapefruit juice
St john and SSRI or SNRI will increase the chance of serotonin syndrome.
