Start when the symp interferes with quality of life but you can have a wearing off after 5 years.
Carbidopa/levodopa (Sinemet) has the greatest effect in improving bradykinesia associated with Parkinson’s Disease. It has less of an effect on the other symptoms such as tremors, rigidity, and has no overall effect on memory. Given that bradykinesia is the most debilitating symptom of Parkinson’s Disease, this medication is an excellent treatment option.
