- Zero Accidents (a view widely held by the travelling public)
- Freedom from Danger of Risk (ie of factors likely to cause harm)
- Attitude towards UNSAFE acts (reflecting SAFE corporate culture)
- The degree to which inherent risks in aviation are “ACCEPTABLE”
- The Process of Hazard identification and Risk Management
- The Control of accidental loss (of persons and property, and damage to the environment)
SAFETY-Is the state in which risk of harm to persons or of property damage is reduced to, and maintained at or below, an acceptable level through a continuing process of HAZARD IDENTIFICATION and RISK MANAGEMENT
What is the objective of SMS?
The objective of a Safety Management System for an Air Operator is to manage threats and errors so as to achieve an operation that has zero accidents and zero incidents, thereby causing no damage to property and no injury to persons. The aim is also to create an environment and a culture within the Operator’s airline that minimises the risk of future accidents or incidents and provides a duty of care on the part of the Operator
Describe the three types of errors?
Safety Errors in Aircraft Maintenance can be considered to be of 3 Types. They are: - 1. Deliberate Errors 2. Skill Errors 3. Inadvertent Errors
