SMALL INTESTINAL NEOPLASIA
● Variable
● Well formed by 5- 7days
● Capable of causing obstruction by 14 days
ADHESIONS
● Hypovolemic shock
● Acute, severe, uncontrollable pain without
abdominal distension
● Unresponsive to analgesics
MESENTERIC DEFECT,
EPIPLOIC FORAMEN HERNIATION
● Acute, severe violent pain
● Hypovolemic shock
PEDUNCULATED LIPOMA

● Intermittent colic with vague signs of weight
loss and lethargy
ILEAL HYPERTROPHY
● Mild pain that escalates as small intestinal
distension progresses
● Frequently respond to medical management
with slow deterioration of physical parameters
ILEAL IMPACTION
● Foal—soft fluctuant swelling in the inguinal
region
● Adult—firm, swollen testicle
● Degree of pain escalates as bowel strangulates
INGUINAL HERNIA
● Acute, severe violent pain without abdominal
distension
● Hypovolemic shock
SMALL INTESTINE VOLVULUS
● Moderate to severe abdominal pain
● Pendulous belly (pot belly)
● Rough hair coat
