What is the dx criteria needed for Hypersomnolence Disorder?
patient lapses into sleep or not being fully awake through the day
Excessive sleeping with >7 hrs of sleep
occurs > 3 time/ week
What is the dx criteria for Narcolepsy
Recurrent episodes of sleeping or napping in the same day
> 3 time/week
3 months
What is an associated symptom related to narcolepsy?
cataplexy - a sudden bilateral loss of muscle control after laughing or joking for example
what deficiency is a/w narcolepsy?
hypocretin
What are 2 options of PSG evidence of Obstructive Sleep Apnea?
- > 5 episodes of OSA/hour + snoring, daytime sleepiness
OR
- > 15 episodes of OSA/hour
What is circadian rhythm disorder?
sleep disruption due to a misalignment between endogenous circadian rhythm and sleep schedule
What is characteristic of Parasomnias?
Incomplete awakening from sleep with associated sleep walking, sleep terrors, vocalization, or nightmares
Amnesia of episode
What is Rapid Eye movement sleep behavior disorder?
Repeated episodes of arousal during sleep with vocalizations or motor disorders
What is the dx criteria of restless legs syndrome (RLS) in sleep
Urge to move the legs usually due to an unpleasant feeling or sensation in the legs
Patients often refer to the sensation as a “creepy-crawly” type of feeling or a “pins and needles” feeling
> 3x/week
3 months
What is Periodic Limb movement of sleep?
Sx very similar to RLS but only occurs during sleep
