Orbits
Rim: frontal, maxilla, zygomatic
Inside: lacrimal, sphenoid, ethmoid
Coronal suture
Connects frontal bone with 2 parietal bones
Sagittal suture
Connects the 2 parietal bones
Lambdoid suture
Connects parietal to occipital bone
Hard palate
Anterior 3/4 formed by maxilla
Posterior 1/4 formed by the palatine bone
Ethmoid bone
Orbital plate
Perpendicular plate
Cribiform plate
Crista galli
Superior nuchal line
Trap, splenius, semispinalis capitis, longissimus capitis
Inferior nuchal line
Superior obliques, RCPM, RCPm
Trigeminal nerve (CN V)
Sensation to the entire face
Innervates muscles of mastication
Facial nerve (CN VII)
Muscles of facial expression
The common carotid artery splits at the
Superior border of the thyroid cartilage into the internal and external carotid artery
External carotid artery (ECA) and internal carotid artery (ICA)
ECA gives blood supply to the entire face (facial and temporal arteries) except for the area of the glabella, which will receive blood supply from the ICA. The ICA will then head up to the brain to help form the circle of Willis
Cranium roof called
Calvaria
