Flexure lines: deep creases in areas of body (surrounding joints) where reticular layer is tightly anchored in deeper structures

-it indents epidermis to create epidermal ridges; enhance gripping ability of hands and feet: happens in loops, arches, and whorls, sweat pores open along ridges and leaves fingerprint
