What to look for on examination
Sites affected, distribution (symmetrical/asymmetrical), and arrangement of lesions
How to descibe an arrangement of lesions
Annular, grouped, linear, discrete, coalescing
What to do when palpating a lesion
Surface - smooth, uneven or rough
Deep - soft,normal or firm
Scratch and pick
Types of lesions
Flat, raised, fluid filled, broken surface
Surface features of lesions
Abnormal keratinisation, broken surface, change in thickness
Colour changes seen in lesions
Red, pink, brown or white
Border characteristics of lesions
Well defined, poorly defined, accentuated
Shapes of lesions
Round, oval, irregular, dome, pedunculated, spherical
