What is acne rosacea
Common chronic skin condition causing flushing of forehead, nose, cheeks and skin.
Presentation of acne rosacea
Red rash over central face, consisting of papules and pustules on erythematous background, often with telangiectasia.
Ages affected by rosacea
30-60 most commonly affecting females although worse in males
Exacerbating factors of rosecea
Sun exposure, hot weather, warm baths, stress and spicy foods
Topical treatments for rosecea
Azelaic acid, Brimonidine or Ivermectin
Topical antibiotics for rosecea
Metronidazole
General management of rosecea
Camouflage creams, sun protection, avoiding factors causing facial flushing
Complications of rosecea
If untreated can lead to rhinophyma (skin thickening and disfiguration of nose) and ocular involvement
What can manage persistent telangiectasia
Laser therapy
