Where does scabies usually affect?
A
- warmer areas eg. finger webspaces, wrists, axillae, waist, feet, ankles

What are the signs of scabies?
A
- burrows (linear tunnel in which mite lives)
- papules
- blisters
- nodules
- intensely pruritic (most severe at night)

What is the treatment for scabies?
A
2 doses, each dose one week apart:
- Malathion
- Permethrin
- boil wash clothes and sheets - VERY contagious

What is the treatment for insect bites?
A
anti-histamines for itch

What do insect bites look like?
A
- erythema
- local wheal
- flare

What is Pityriasis versicolor?
A
yeast infection causing flaky discoloured patches on chest and back.
- more common in hot , humid climates

what does pityriasis versicolour look like?
A
- affects trunk, neck, arms
- patches coppery brown, paler than surrounding skin or pink.
- sometimes start scaly and brown then resolve through a non-scaly/white stage.
- usually assymptomatic but can be mildly itchy/

What is the treatment for pityriasis versicolor?
A
- topical azole cream / shampoo
- terbinafine gel
- selenium sulfide
