What are the 6 skill related fitness elements?
Co-ordination Reaction time Speed Power Agility Balance
What is co-ordination?
The ability to use two or more body parts at the same time.
What is balance?
The ability to keep the body stable by keeping the centre of gravity over the body.
What is power?
The ability to apply a combination of strength and speed (Strength X speed = Power)
What’s agility?
The ability to change direction quickly while under control of your whole body
When is agility used?
When dodging a rugby tackle
What’s the test for agility?
Illinois agility test
What is reaction time?
The time it takes to respond to a stimulus
What’s the test for reaction time?
Ruler drop test
When is reaction time used?
At the start of a 100M sprint
What is speed?
The fastest rate a person can perform a movement or speed
When is speed used?
During the 100M spring
What is the test for speed?
30 metre spring test
What is the test for co-ordination?
The 3 ball juggle
When is co-ordination used?
A boxer uses co-ordination to punch and dodge punches
