Skeleton and Bones Flashcards
what are some functions of the skeleton?
support: the skeleton holds the body upright and helps it keep it’s shape
protect: bones of the skeleton protect delicate organs
movement: muscles pull on bones and move the body
making blood cells: bone marrow inside the bones produces blood cells

cartilage/function
it is smooth to reduce friction anf flexible to absorb shock
synovial fluid/function
lubricates the joint to reduce friction
capsule/function
tough fibrous tissue keeping joint together
what three types of joints are there?

- slightly movable
- freely movable/synovial
what 4 types of synovial joints are there?
