ankylosing spondylitis
chronic progressive stiffening of joints, mostly spine
arthritis
inflammation of any joint
bunion
swelling of any medial aspect of joint btwn big toe and first metatarsal bone
carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS)
compression of median nerve as it passes btwn ligament and bones and tendons of the wrist
dislocation
displacement of bone from a joint
ganglion
a fluid-filled cyst arising from the joint capsule or a tendon in the wrist
gouty arthritis (gout)
inflammation due to excessive uric (relating to urine) acid in body
herniation of an intervertebral disk (disc)
abnormal protrusion of the disk into the neural canal or against spinal nerves, “slipped disk”
kyphosis
abnormal, outward curvature of the thoracic spine
lordosis
abnormal, forward curvature of the lumbar spine, swayback
Lyme disease (Lyme arthritis)
recurrent arthritis, myalgia malaise and neurologic and cardiac symptoms; often marked by a bull’s eye rash at the site of the tick bite
osteoarthritis (OA)
loss of articular cartilage and formation of bone spurs at articular surfaces can occur in any joint, but mainly in the spine, hips, and knees of older people
osteomalacia
softening of bone
osteomyelitis
inflammation of bone and bone marrow
osteoporosis
condition of small holes in the bones; noticeable loss of bone density
