Name the 5 functions of the skeleton
Support Protection Movement Blood cell production Mineral storage
Describe shape
The skeleton defines your shape e.g. cranium defines face
Describe protection
The skeleton protects the organs found within it
E.g. cranium covering brain
Describe movement
Bones form joints which muscles pull on to allow movement
E.g. bicep contracts allows elbow to flex
Describe blood cell production
Inside bones is a central core of marrow when red and white blood cells are created
E.g. bone marrow found in clavicle
