Q

Describe muscle action

A
    • Muscles are attached to bones by tendon
    • Tendon at non-moving end known as origin (shoulder to bicep)
    • Tendon at moving end is Juan as insertion (elbow to bicep)

Q

What is isotonic muscle contraction

A

When muscle length changes
CONCENTRIC- muscle shortens when it contracts E.G. bending elbow, bicep contracts
ECCENTRIC- Occurs when muscle lengthens as it contracts E.G. quadricep contracts eccentrically to lower body slowly to ground

Q

What is isometric contraction

A

Muscle contracts but remains same length, when body is in fixed position
E.G. A handstand, muscles contracting but no movement
