A
An autoimmune condition characterised by lymphocytic infiltrates in exocrine organs

Presentation of Sjogrens syndrome
A
Dryness in the eyes and mouth (sicca symptoms) Arthralgia Fatigue Vaginal dryness Parotid gland swelling

Problems associated with Sjogrens syndrome
A
Peripheral neuropathy
ILD
Increased risk of lymphoma

Diagnosis of Sjogrens syndrome
A
Ocular dryness via Schirmers test
Positive anti-Ro
Positive anti-La
Lip biopsy

Management of Sjogrens syndrome
A
Largely symptomatic:
Lubricating eye drops
Saliva replacement products
Regular dental care
Pilocarpine to stimulate saliva production
Hydroxchloroquine for arthralgia and fatigue
Immunosuppression when there is other organ involvement e.g. ILD
