What is dermatomyositis
A
Clinically similar to polymyositis but with cutaneous involvement

A
V-shaped rash over chest
Gottron’s papules
Heliotrope rash

Complications of dermatomyositis
A
Increased risk of malignancy: breast, ovarian, lung, colon, oesophagus and bladder.
25% and greatest risk in the 5 years following diagnosis - malignancy should be screened for time at the time of malignancy
