1) only love is intrinsically good
2) love is the ruling norm of Christian decision
3) love and justice are the same

what are the four working principles of situation ethics
-pragmatism (will it work)
-relativism
-positivism (commitment to a belief in a loving God)
-personalism (focus on the individual rather than rules)
strengths of situation ethics
-flexible
-biblically backed (sermon on the mount)
-can change with times
weaknesses of situation ethics
-some rules are essential you cant just neglect them e.g. traffic laws
-Pope Pius XII too individualistic and subjective
-indivisualistic which goes against the idea of community emphasised in the New Testement
-Ramsey, rejected act agapeism and proposed rule agapeism
-can slip into antinomianism
-Fletcher on Down’s Syndrome…
-fletcher turns against christianity in 67 as ‘weird’
