agape
drawn from greatest commandment being ‘love your neighbour as yourself’
whatever maximises this is allowed
conscience
enables you to figure our the requirements of agape in situation
disagreed that it is innate sense of right and wrong
strengths
designed for modern society
humanity has now ‘come of age’ so need less fixed rules to decide right thing
founded on liberal approach to bible
weakness
barclay- that amount of freedom is dangerous
- for freedom to be good love has to be perfect
humans are selfish and not come of age so this cant happen
power (freedom) corrupts
love is not only element of christian ethics
