simple inheritance. Flashcards

difference between dominant & recessive traits, understand genotype and phenotypes.

1

3
Q

what is a dominant allele?

A

characterised by a upper case letter, if one dominant allele is present the trait is expressed, masking the recessive allele.

Q

what is a recessive allele?

A

characterised by a lowercase letter, two recessive alleles must be present in order to have that trait expressed. if one dominant allele is present the recessive trait is masked.

Q

A

the physical features of a trait that you can see in an organism.
(eye colour, hair, dimples, etc.)
