A

a form of pulmonary fibrosis (fatal disease) and is similar to asbestosis.

the lungs are scared causing them to become inflamed and stiffen reducing the oxygen supply to the blood

those who contract this commonly don’t live for more than 3-5 years

macrophages (immune system cells) attack (engulf) the silica and embed it into the lung tissue to prevent it from spreading around

A

preventing silica dust from becoming air born:
-water can be used to suppress dust in air
-vacumes can be installed to capture the air
-respirators a work, but it doesn’t protect the people around you

A

no, its like mesothelioma and asbestosis. it will progressively get worse.
