What does to “beckon traffic on” mean?
To call traffic towards
What 3 groups of peoples signals must we obey?
Police, Customs & Excise officers and, DVA Enforcement officer.
What does someone signalling with their right hand up mean?
Traffic approaching from the front.
What does someone signalling with their right hand up and left hand to the side mean?
Traffic approaching from both front and behind
What does someone signalling with their left hand out to the side mean?
Traffic approaching from behind.
What does someone with their right hand up infront of them mean?
From the side
What does someone signalling with right hand up and an arrow beside mean?
From the front
What does someone signalling with their left hand out to the side and an arrow mean?
From behind.
What does RED and AMBER on traffic light mean?
Stop, don’t pass through till green shows.
What does AMBER mean on traffic lights?
Stop at the stop line. You may go if it appears after you passed stop line.
What does GREEN mean traffic lights?
You may go on if way is clear.
What does RED mean traffic lights.
Stop. Wait behind stop line on carriageway.
Why might police signal?
-Ease traffic flow
-At accident scene
-At large events
Why is it important to signal?
Tells motorists what we intend to do where we intend to go.
