What is a sign test used for?
A
- testing DIFFERENCE
- with NOMINAL data
- when using REPEATED MEASURE or MATCHED PAIRS

How to calculate a sign test
A
- convert data to nominal - sign of difference - subtract
- add up pluses and minuses - any equal scores change the value of N
- work out which sign is least frequent and use that number as calculated value
- compare calculated value to critical value from table
- see if results are significant or not
