How to calculate a sign test

A
  1. convert data to nominal - sign of difference - subtract
  2. add up pluses and minuses - any equal scores change the value of N
  3. work out which sign is least frequent and use that number as calculated value
  4. compare calculated value to critical value from table
  5. see if results are significant or not
