distributions Flashcards
1
Q
Normal distribution
A
- curve is always symmetrical
- curve extends outwards never touches 0
- mean, median, mode occupy around same mid-point (draw mode first)
2
Q
What is a skewed distribution?
A
- spread of data
- not symmetrical
- data is clustered at one end
3
Q
Positive skew
A
- most of data is concentrated on LEFT
- long tail is on the right side
- mean higher than median/mode
- seen in a hard test
4
Q
Negative skew
A
- most of data is concentrated on RIGHT
- long tail on the left side
- mean lower than median/mode
- seen in a easy test
