shoulder/UE Flashcards
1
Q
4 shoulder joints
A
- sternoclavicular
- acromioclavicular
- glenohumeral
- scapulothoracic
2
Q
SC joint
A
- only true joints that connects UE to axial skeleton
- medial clavicle and superolateral aspect of manubrium
- saddle shaped synovial joint
3
Q
ligaments of SC joint
A
- interclavicular
- anterior sternoclavicular
- posterior sternoclavicular
- costoclavicular
4
Q
AC joint
A
- synovial plant joint
- suspends UE from trunk
5
Q
ligaments of AC joint
A
- AC ligament
- coracoacromial lig
- coracoclavicular lig (trapezoid & conoid)
6
Q
glenohumeral joint
A
- most mobile joint in body & most unstable
- ball & socket
- synovial
- rotation mainly with little translation
7
Q
GH joint ligaments
A
- fibrous capsule
- GH ligs (sup, middle, inf)
- coracohumeral
- transverse humeral
8
Q
motion of GH joint
A
- F/E = transverse axis, sagittal plane
- Ab/Ad = AP axis, coronal plane
- IR/ER = vertical axis, transverse plane
9
Q
rotator cuff mm
A
- supraspinatus
- infraspinatus
- teres major
- subscapularis
10
Q
mm acting on clavicle
A
- trapezius
- SCM
- pec major & minor
- deltoid
- subclavius
11
Q
GH dislocation tests
A
- apprehension: surrender position, abduct 90, ER, flex 90 - push shoulder forward, will hurt them (look at face)
12
Q
supraspinatus tests
A
- empty can: arms in front of you slight angle, thumbs down, resist doc pushing down on them
- drop arm: abduct arm to 90, tell them to slowly lower arm - wont be able to do it
13
Q
labral tear tests
A
O’briens: flex arm to 90, adduct across chest, IR with thumb down, put down on arm - pain is positive
14
Q
impingement tests
A
- Hawkin’s
- Neer’s
15
Q
biceps test
A
- Speed’s: flex arm with palm up, as pt to resist as you press inf = pain in bicipital groove = pos test
- Yergason’s: flex elbow to 90, doc ER & pulls down on arm as pt resists = stability of biceps tendon
