Shoulder Girdle Flashcards
What are posterior muscles of the shoulder girdle?
Trapezius, levator scapula, and rhomboids
What movement does the levator produce?
Scapular elevation and downward rotation
What movement do the rhomboids produce?
Scapular retraction and some downward rotation.
What are the anterior muscles of the shoulder girdle?
Serratus anterior, pec minor, subclavius.
The serratus counterbalances what posterior muscle?
trapezius. (these two maintain scapula position at rest)
What movement does the serratus produce?
Scapular protraction and upward rotation.
Paralysis of what muscles lead to pathalogical winging?
Rhomboids and/or serratus
What movement does the pec minor produce/?
Protraction, downward rotation, and depression.
What movement does the subclavius produce?
None, serves to stabilize the clavicle (originates on first rib and inserts on underside of clavicle).
Random terminology: Ligaments connect what?
Bone to bone
Random Terminology: Tendons connect what?
Bone to muscle
