Upper=Elevate & Downwardly Rotate the Scapula
Mid=Scapular Retraction & Stabilization
Lower=Depress & Upwardly Rotate the Scapula
Lats Origin & Insertion
O=SP’s T7-12, Ribs 8-12, Inferior Angle of Scapula, Thoracolumbar Fascia, & Posterior Iliac Crest
I=Intertubercular Groove
Lats Action
Extend, Adduct, & IR the shoulder
Levator Scap Origin & Insertion
O=TP’s of C1-C4
I=Medial border of the scapula in between the Superior Angle & Scapular Spine
Levator Scap Action
Elevate & Downwardly Rotate the Scapula
Rhomboid Minor Origin & Insertion
O=SP’s of C7-T1
I=Upper portion of medial border of scap across from the scapular spine
Rhomboid Major Origin & Insertion
O=SP’s of T2-T5
I=Medial border of scap in between the scapular spine & inferior angle
Rhomboids Action
Retract, Elevate, & Downwardly Rotate the Scapula
Pec Major Origin & Insertion
O=Medial Clavicle, Sternum, & Cartilages of Ribs 1-6
I=Crest of Greater Tubercle
Pec Major Action
Adduction & IR Shoulder; Also elevates thorax during forced inhalation
UF=Horizontal Adduction & Shoulder Flexion
LF=Shoulder Extension
Pec Minor Origin & Insertion
O=Ribs 3-5
I=Coracoid Process
Pec Minor Action
Depress, Abduct, & Downwardly Rotate Scapula
Elevates thorax during forced inhalation when the ribs are fixed
Serratus Anterior Origin & Insertion
O=Ribs 1-9
I=Medial Border of Scap (Anterior Surface)
Serratus Anteior Action
Holds Medial border of scapula against rib cage; Abducts, Upwardly Rotates, & Depresses Scapula
Elevates thorax during forced inhalation when scap is fixed
