Shoulder Flashcards
Preferred Instability test
Apprehension-good specific for all instabilities
Preferred labral tear tests
Kim Test-good sens and spec for post/inf labral lesion
Jerk Test-good spec for post/inf labral lesion
Preferred SLAP/labral tear/biceps rupture tests
Biceps Load Test I and II-good sens and spec for SLAP
Preferred Supraspinatis/Infraspinatus special tests for RTC tears
External rotation lag sign-good spec 100%
Arc of pain-good sens 98%
Preferred Teres Minor Special Tests for RTC tear
Hornblower’s sign- good sens and spec
Preferred supraspinatus test for massive RTC tear
Supraspinatus test-good spec for tear 88% and good spec for impingement 90%
Preferred special tests for subscapularis RTC tear-
Internal rotation lag sign-good sens and spec for tear
Lift off test-good spec 100% for tear
Shoulder examination-full range
Resisted movements negative- inert structures other than capsule-pain at end of range-AC joint Spain, Chronic sub deltoid bursitis, lesion of Conoid/trapezoid ligament
Resisted movements positive- contractile structures-
Shoulder examination- Excessive range
Positive instability tests-instability-Ant/Post/Inf instability
*Isometric exercises beneficial for instability
Shoulder examination- Limited Range
Capsular range-Arthritis pathology
Shoulder Examination- Limited Range-Non Capsular Pattern-
Non Capsular Pattern-Inert Strictures other than the capsule-
Limited passive elevation-
normal scapulo humeral range-shoulder girdle problem
limited Scapulo humeral range-acute subacromial bursitis
Limited passive medial rotation-post capsular contraction
Limited passive lateral rotation- subconscious bursitis or anterior capsular contraction
