Q

Two main diesel engines

A

Two MTU model 20 V 4000 M93L with 4300 kW

The main diesel engines are equipped with a battery bank, which provides standby power to each engine. If three onboard generators fail, the battery bank is designed to provide power to operate both engines simultaneously for 30 minutes before securing both MDE’s.

43
Q

Anchor watch can be stood after one hr by the ?

A

OOD or Qmow

(2) If the winds approach 25 knots or the sea state increases to 4 feet, both the OOD and QMOW shall man the bridge for the duration of the watch.

Plot the position at least every 15 minutes for the first hour, then every 30 minutes thereafter

44
Q

Special Sea Detail online?

A

Both MDE’s

Both generators online, one taking to load with the other online in standby.

One steering pump online.

Bow thruster online.

45
Q

Electronic Casualty Control – In the event of a loss of gyro feed to SEAWATCH,.

In the event loss of primary GPS, (do not have GPS) the OOD should shift to secondary GPS feed. If GPS feed is lost completely,

A

OOD should switch to GPS sensor for COG, with fluxgate compass as tertiary backup.

switch to MODE II navigation using radar, and SIRVSS to generate LOPs.

46
Q
  1. A UTOMATIC IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM (AIS) POLICY. JOSEPH TEZANOS’ AIS will normally be operated in” “to receive/transmit mode in encrypted mode to facilitate OPSEC.
A

“Secured TX”

Class A/Transit- when UW

47
Q
  1. SIRVSS
A

a. JOSEPH TEZANOS is not equipped with a traditional gyrocompass fed alidade like legacy cutters. As such, SIRVSS will be the primary means to determine visual lines of positions (LOPs) for all Manual Plotting fixes.

You can use the remote to shoot LOP’s that will show up on the Flir screen.

48
Q

Use of Force Continuum against NCV:

A

(1) Step I: Command Presence
(2) Step II: Warn
(3) Step III: Disrupt
(4) Step IV: Disable

49
Q

Visual Fix

Radar Fix

A

Using three lines of position. Labeled with a circle.

Using three radar ranges. Labeled as an electronic fix.

50
Q

Shallow Contour –

A

This is the actual “run aground” draft. It shall be set at 9.5 feet in VEGA-ECDIS as well as VEGA-ECS

51
Q

Depth Below Keel – The depth recorded by the fathometer.

A

The transducer is located 1.3 ft above the keel of the cutter. The depth sounder display, mounted above the chart table, shall include a 1.5 ft correction to account for this disparity

52
Q

SEAWATCH: An integrated command and control system combining sensor inputs, display, and communications to meet specific tactical/navigational requirements of the Coast Guard.

A

The three primary software applications are the Navigation Display (VEGA-ECDIS), Tactical Display (Agile Client), and Radar Display (C-ARPA). MAKO Chat and S2 are also components of SEAWATCH.

53
Q

Pendant Operation

A

he pendant allows for remote throttle (up to 1,000 rpms for each MDE), bow thruster, and rudder control from the exterior of the pilothouse

54
Q

Chart Corrections.

A

Full file replacement of electronic data is the recommended method to update electronic charts. An electronic chart is considered corrected if it has been updated within the last 45 days (SINS I is an exception and must be updated every six months).
