GENERAL QUARTERS
- Condition I will be set during General Quarters.
- Condition III will be set during Wartime Cruising.
- Condition IV will be set during Maritime Cruising.
- It is the responsibility of the Officer of the Deck (OOD) to set these conditions.
RMD
: During periods of restricted maneuvering, the EOW shall ensure that the engineering plant maintains the status directed by the CO. No machinery will be secured without the permission of the OOD. All EOWs shall remain vigilant at all times to insure that no machinery is secured without the permission of the OOD during periods of restricted maneuvering.
1. Low visibility piloting
2. Piloting in restricted waters and harbors
3. Anchoring
4. Mooring
5. Flight operations
6. Formation steaming
7. Underway replenishment/fueling
8. Towing
9. Heavy weather steaming
10. At any time that the CO deems necessary
1. During periods of restricted maneuvering, the following equipment will be placed online:
a. Both Main Diesel Engines in Pilothouse Control with safety system overrides engaged.
b. One SSDG supplying ship’s power and one SSDG in (PMS mode) power management system.
c. Both steering hydraulic pumps in remote with one online and the other tested and ready for operation.
d. Both Fin Stabilizers online.
e. Emergency Diesel Generator in AUTO.
E EXCEPTIONS: The EOW shall secure equipment immediately when the RMD is set for the following casualties:
a. Crankcase explosion
b. Atomizing fuel spray.
c. Major F/O or L/O leaks.
d. Personnel entanglement.
e. Bravo fire in a machinery space.
f. Class Charlie Fire in switchboard.
REQUIRES CO PERMISSION
- Commanding Officer (CO). During an emergency, the CO will be located on the bridge, and supervises the OOD in maneuvering the ship to avoid hazards. The following casualty control actions require the CO’s permission:
a. Activation of FM200 Heptaflouropropane Fire Suppression System
b. Jettisoning
c. Reentry into a space where FM200 has been activated
