Eri Gatame
Start from any hip or shoulder throw. Then sprawl your legs out with your toes facing upward. Slide your right hand along the left side of uke’s neck. Bring the left hand to meet the right hand and gable grip together. Push your forehead against uke’s temple.
Kata Gatame
Start from any hip or shoulder throw. Follow uke to the ground with legs sprawled like Eri Gatame. Pull uke onto their side with their back facing you as you place their arm over their face. Slide right hand along left side of uke’s neck and gable grip with left hand. Place the weight of your torso on uke’s shoulder.
Juji Gatame
Throw seoi nage. Hold onto uke’s right arm and trap it with your left leg (moving from inside outwards). When uke punches from ground, block with same side arm then figure-4 arm bar it as you extend legs (including one trapping the left arm). Apply arm bar pressure.
Shiho Gatame
Uke fits in for Seoi Nage. Push on their lower hips with one hand to keep momentum going as your other hand pushes on lapel to create a levering action. Once uke falls, approach their head and scoop their arms as your hands grab uke’s belt. Push hips into uke’s face and rub up and down.
Sankaku Gatame
Start from a failed Tomoe Nage. Place left foot on uke’s free hip and shift your hips towards the left foot. The right leg moves up and over uke between their neck and left shoulder. Figure 4 their right arm while you hook your right foot behind your left knee. Bring uke down to the ground and apply arm bar.
Ushiro Gatame
Uke strikes with a straight punch. Deflect the punch with your left hand. Your right hand shoots in-between uke’s right shoulder and neck and grabs their collar. Swing behind them and bring left hand under the left shoulder and grab collar. Bump uke’s hips with yours as you take their balance. Drop to the ground with them in front of you. Lean back, strike feet into groin and “bench press” them to stretch their shoulders and chest. Roll them over to one side with them facing down. Slam them into the ground.
Namijuji Shime
Start from the mount. Reach down to uke’s collar with left hand (palms up) and lift uke’s chin as you grab the inside of their collar. This creates space for you to bring the right hand (with palms up) under your left arm to the other side of uke’s neck. Grab the collar and apply choke.
Gyakujuji Shime
With palms down, reach up to uke’s collar with left hand and lift uke’s chin and bring right hand under the left arm up to the other side of uke’s neck, grab collar and apply choke.
Ichimonji Shime
With one hand applying Nami juji, the other hand grabs uke’s opposite lapel and pulls down on it.
Tsukikomi Shime
Typically starting from the mount, with both hands, grab same side lapels and push lapel (with thumbs and pointer fingers behind the lapel) into the side of tori’s throat. Then do a forward roll over tori to escape.
Hadaka Jime Ichi
Slap uke’s head with left hand and bring it all the way down till it is inverted and pushed against your hip. With right hand, snake it along the jaw line of uke’s head. Bring left hand over to gable grip right hand. Apply pressure to strain or break neck.
Hadaka Jime Ni
Uke fits in for Seoi Nage. Bring your right arm across uke’s throat and gable grip right hand with left hand. Apply pressure to the trachea and throat.
Hadaka Jime San
Uke fits in for Seoi Nage. Bring right arm across uke’s throat till their trachea is cradled in your elbow. Then bring left arm over uke’s left shoulder and grab left bicep with right hand. Place left hand behind uke’s head and squeeze bicep and tighten constriction.
Dakikubi Shime
Start from uke’s left side. Place right arm around uke’s neck and fall onto your knees. Pulling uke over and creating space for them to fall without hitting their head. Then while still holding with right hand, with left hand feed your inside lapel to right hand and rotate legs up towards uke’s head.
Osaekomi Shime
From a hip throw, put right knee onto uke’s right bicep. With left hand grab uke’s hair and twist their head away from you. With right hand slam the mat (pretending its their neck) to apply neckbreak.
Kote Jime
Start from same position as Juji Gatame (with the left leg trapping uke’s right arm). Uke’s left arm figure-4ed, bring uke’s arm in to their shoulder. Lift their elbow up slowly.
Tenada Jime
Start from the mount. Take uke’s arm and pull them up onto their opposite shoulder while bringing your same side knee into uke’s back. Swing both legs perpendicularly over uke’s chest. Straighten uke’s arm and bar it against the inside of your thigh.
Do Jime
Start from kumi kata. Slap uke’s right hand down and bar it with your left arm. Kick uke’s right leg out and bring them to the ground. Move them to your left side as you tighten your legs into uke’s floating ribs and apply arm bar. Then place right hand over uke’s throat and push their head to the ground and instruct them to lift their hips. Escape while maintaining the arm bar.
Ashigarami Jime
Start from the mount. Hook your legs onto the inside of uke’s legs. When uke tries to buck you, drop your torso weight onto their body. Move your legs outward pushing against the nerves on the inside of the shin.
Ashinada Jime
tart from Deashi Harai, Trap uke’s right leg with your right arm. Lift up against the ashinada nerve (just at the base of the calf muscle). Then place right leg over uke’s right leg and tuck both of your feet under uke’s torso as you sit down and continue to apply ashinada nerve pressure.
Ashiyubi Jime
Start from the ground position of Ashinada Jime. Release uke’s calf and grab their toes with your left hand and their heel with your right hand. Twist in opposite directions.
Momo Jime
Start out in uke’s guard. Push one elbow into the momo nerve (on the inside of the thigh) to open uke’s leg grip. Escape and push uke’s other leg over your head to exit safely
Shikano Itsusoku Jime
Uke enters with a straight punch. Ulna press uke’s arm and take them to the ground. Heel stomp their hamstring to get their leg to lift up. Grab uke’s raised right leg with your left hand and keep hold of uke’s right arm with your right hand. Pull them towards you a bit to stretch them out. Then wrap left leg onto uke’s right leg moving from inside to outside. Trap uke’s right arm and move your hips towards uke to apply arm lock.
Shidari Fuji Jime
Start from a failed Tomoe Nage. Place your other foot on uke’s hip. Then move the original foot up and push your big toe into the nape of the neck and apply choke.
Tatsumaki Jime
Start from kumikata. Place both hands on uke’s right wrist. Kick their left leg out with your right leg. Bring them to the ground and move your left leg over their head as you move to the ground. Apply arm bar with uke facing down.
