Prompt! (w/in 3 days)
Systemic, long acting abx Footbathing (zinc sulphate x 3 weeks) Separate groups Vaccinate! (remember moxidectin/shearing rxn) Cull Quarantine

CS of contagious ovine digital dermatitis?
very painful!
initial lesion @ coronary band, rapid spread - separates hoof
whole hoof loose, may slough
CODD tx?
Injection w/ macrolids, tetracycline, or Amoxi

What are the 2 syndromes of erysipelas?
1) chronic polyarthritis in young lambs
2) acute post-dipping (or pot muddy pen) - infective arthritis
CS of Erysipelas infection?
Severe lameness, hock and carpal joints, heat and pain, proliferative synovitis
Dx of erysipelas?
joint aspirate smear and culture
PM
Tx and prevention of erysipelas?
Tx = penicillin and NSAIDs Prevention = dip management / vaccination
What is the most common cause of foot lesions in individual sheep (vs. group problems)?
White line disease (shelly hoof)
