What are the two reporting options for sexual assault?

What is the difference between unrestricted and restricted reporting?
- Unrestricted reporting option triggers an investigation, command notification, access healthcare treatment
- Restricted reporting option does not trigger an investigation. SC is notified a sexual assault has been reported, but is not given the victims info.
Who can receive a restricted report for sexual assault?
The victim can confidentially disclose and report a sexual assault to a SARC,
SHARP VA, VR, HCP.
Who can receive an unrestricted report for sexual assault?
A victim can disclose that they are the victim of a sexual assault to a SARC, SHARP
VA, VR, HCP, command authorities, or others.
Upon the victim’s request, the SARC can assign the SHARP VA to provide the victim with
what type of resources?
crisis intervention, referrals, safety planning, and
accompaniment to interviews and appointments.
What are some responsibilities Commanders must do in regards to effective
implementation of the SHARP Program?
- Ensure all SHARP professionals under their command are appropriately screened, trained and certified before being appointed to their positions.
- Ensure that assigned personnel, to include RC personnel under their command, are
trained on SHARP Policy. - Incorporate unit-level SHARP annual training into the overall training for the unit and
document the training.
Commanders who become aware of the reported or suspected sexual assault, including
reports from a third party are to do what?
They will immediately contact the SARC and CID.
