Environment decisions decisions is seen through “you really aren’t going to come with me?” the questioning tone displays how even though their ideals are in line with each other they still aren’t accepting of one another and must come together for a compromise displaying their differences right at the beginning of the play.

However this further progresses throughout the play within “You’re a stupid, ignorant girl who doesn’t know what it is like to make your way in a country where you didn’t go to school”, the degrading tone is used to emphasise Sarrinah’s hatred towards Shafana’s decisions, as Sarrinah believes that education is a must to get by in the world as aunt Sarrinah is willing to work in a factory for her future whilst Shafana believes that Sarrinahs work is not being properly assessed

Despite the constant backlash from Sarrinah, Shafana still firmly believes that accepting the Hijab will be her “My hijab is like a cape”, The metaphoric expression, comparing her hijab to a cape with super-powers captures the liberation and strength Shafana feels as a result of her decision to express her faith.
