Bruce doesn’t prepare movements and allows dancers to influence the piece. Wanted to use the music and the set (furniture) to incorporate within the choreography.

Avro Part’s ‘Frates’ for violin and piano and family relationships as they deal with an outside force.

A small family, possibly Eastern European facing poverty, deprivation and what lies outside their home.

Semi-narrative, solo, duet, trio, quartet.
S - Aural Setting
Avro Part’s ‘Frates’ for violin and piano which provides a solemn atmosphere.
S - Costume
All in 1940’s styles : mother wears a puff-sleeved, calf length, pink, floral tea dress, father wears a white shirt and grey trousers with a brown waistcoat, daughter wears a pastel, button front blouse with a calf length, pastel blue skirt and the son wears grey trousers and an untucked, white shirt. Costumes suggest the family are lower class.
S - Lighting
Intimate lighting to give impression of a room and a white shaft of light projecting from DSL to USR to show what the family are afraid of.

Black box with a table, a bench, two stools, a coat stand and suitcases - all looking worn.
