1+ tonic/clonic Sz w/in 48hrs of ceasing the purple drank
Withdrawal sz
-Begin in childhood, often cease by 20yrs -Impairment of consciousness, sometimes with mild clonic, tonic or atonic components. Onset/terminiation abrupt. Very transit, pt doesn’t even know occurred. Think kid blowing.
Absence (petit mal)
2+ convulsions w/o regaining consciousness OR 5 mins of sustained seizing w/o clearing
Status
Sudden loss of consciousness. Loss of muscle strength and respiratory arrest (tonic phase) short lived. Followed by clonic phase and evenuatlly flaccid comma (post-itcal).
Tonic-Clonic (grand mal)
1) Age 3mos-6yrs; 2) fever >38.3; 3) non CNS infection source. >90%generalied Sz. Most commonly associated with acute reparatory illness
Febrile Sz
Focal seizure with no change in consciousness. Observable focal motor or autonomic symptoms. Subjective sensory or pyschiatric symptoms
Simple partial
Most common seizure type in epileptic adults Focal seizure with altered consciousness. Observable focal sypmtoms; subjective sensory/pyschiatric sypmtoms preceding, accompanying, or following period of altered level of responsiveness
Complex Partial
