Sepals (Calyx)
Petals (Corolla)
Stamen (Androecium)
Pistil (compound pistil)
What are tepals?
Petals and sepals that are indistinguishable from each other
Where are the nectaries located and what are their function?
Base of the corolla
Secrete sweet nectar for pollinators
What is the anatomy of the stamen?
Anther: pollen bearing structure
Filament: stalk that bears the anther
What is the anatomy of the pistil?
Comprised of one or more carpels (modified leaves that contain ovules)
Can be a single carpel or compound
Difference between complete and incomplete?
Complete: all 4 major organs
Incomplete: one or more missing
Difference between perfect and imperfect/hermaphroditic?
Perfect: all reproductive structures on single flower
Imperfect: reproductive structures are in separate flowers
How are monoecious and dioecious plants different?
Mono: contains both staminate and pistillate flowers
Di: staminate and pistillate flowers separated
How are flowers attached and arranged on a plant?
Peduncle: modified stem that bears flower
Solitary: one single flower per peduncle
Inflorescence: multiple flowers per peduncle (clusters)
