The priority is the victim.
Help the victim recover from crime
Assist in gathering evidence

- Thoroughly investigate all reported incidents
- Establish whether a crime has been committed & gather any evidence

Exception to the hearsay rule.
Evidence of recent complaint can be given in relation to all sexual crime. If a victim reports to another person, that person can give this evidence as an exception to the hearsay rule.
