Male radio-man paramedic and female patient man paramedic. Female medic happens to see MDT message from adjacent jurisdictional engine company from last call stating, “What’s the deal with your partner… You need to get her on a leash”
Scenario
Do the actions of the Engine violate the county Policy of Equity?
Yes:
Unlawful harassment
Inappropriate conduct towards others based on a protected status
What actions should you take?
Ensure all employees report misconduct
IDENTIFY there’s a problem, STOP the misconduct, and NOTIFY BC
Notify BC of misconduct
Immediately notify the County Intake Specialist
Complete POE Form
Send original to County Intake Specialist Unit
Copy through channels to Chief Deputy or Executive Director of CEOP
Copy to Employee relations
Document in business journal (No names/details)
Move female PM to engine so she will be under my direct supervision and not be exposed to further threats
Explain to female PM, I have an obligation to report
Turn over to BC
Penalties? Harassing a co-worker in violation of State or federal laws:
1st offense 3-30 days
2nd offense 15-30 days, Reduction/Discharge
3rd offense Discharge, reduction/Discharge
