What is the definition of sexual assault?
A sexual act e.g. sexual touching through clothing, or directly onto skin for which there is no consent
What is the definition of rape?
Non-consensual penetration of the vagina, anus or mouth by a penis
What is the definition of assault by penetration?
Non-consensual sexual penetration of the vagina or anus by an object (e.g. finger)
How is consent defined in law?
Consent must be active and freely given by an individual who has the capacity to do so
