  1. All staff should be sensitised to demonstrate positive attitude and use sensitive language towards SGM pt
  2. Allow SGM to to self identify in new to forms if they choose to do so, include other on forms
  3. SGM rights should be included in facility’s anti discrimination policies and clearly displayed
  4. Posters and flyers reflecting SGM issues should be displayed in waiting room s
    5, non judgemental attitude
  5. Assure pt that consultation confidential
  6. Use gender neutral terminology eg partner nit wife

Why are MSM and gay more the most at risk of HIV and STIs

A
  1. Rectal tissue is friable and does not lubricate, can tear easily on penetration
  2. Increased substance use leading to risk taking behaviours and impaired judgement when intoxicated
  3. Some MSM do not think they are at risk since they don’t identify as gay
