set 2 Flashcards
Which one need contact? Which one works without air? Which one works in liquid and gas?
Conduction needs contact.
Radiation because it moves in waves doesn’t need air.
Convection works in liquid and gas
What happens when you change amplitude and frequency?
(Brightness/colour)
The higher the frequency, the more energy, and the higher the amplitude, the more energy.
What is reflection?
an instance of reflecting. especially : the return of light or sound waves from a surface.
What surfaces does reflection work on?
If the surface is smooth and shiny, like glass, water or polished metal, the light will reflect at the same angle as it hit the surface.
Draw a diagram of Reflection
(incident ray and reflected ray on diagram)
What happens to the angle of incident and how is it compared to the angle of reflection?
The angle of incidence is equal to the reflected angle through the law of reflection. The angle of incidence and the angle of reflection is always equal
What is refraction?
Refraction happens when light changes direction, or bends, when it moves from one material to another. For example, light traveling through the air refracts when it hits water.
Draw a diagram that shows no refraction
What happens to light when you change medium?
What happens when you go from a air to glass? (lower to higher density)
the light refracts.
If light enters any substance with a higher refractive index (such as from air into glass) it slows down.
