15
Q

What is the pathophys of toxic shock?

A

superantigen creates crossbridge between CD4 T cell and APC
this activates them and leads to a cytokine storm
causes vasodilation and endothelial damage fluid leaks out
hypotension ensues

16
Q

What are the cardiac effects of anaphylaxis/histamine?

A

dec MAP
inc coronary blood flow
induces arrhythmia, thrombi formation
induces catecholamine release (hypotension/tach)

17
Q

What is the effect of eicosanoids?

A

dec contractility

18
Q

Effects of platelet activating factor (PAF)

A

dec coronary blood flow
dec contractility
recruits neutrophils and eosinophils
activates platelets
