1
Q

What can filtration be used for ?

A

If a product is an insoluble solid and needs to be separated form a liquid reaction mixture
And purification

Q

How to separate soluble solids from solutions ?

A

Evaporation - heat it up and crystals will form

Crystallisation - gently heat, solvent will evaporate, get more concentrated, once crystals start to form remove from heat and let cool.

Q

How do you do simple distillation ?

A

Heated and the part of the solution with the lowest boiling point will evaporate first, then it will cool and condense and collects.
