A
  • Irregular sentence constructions
  • Contain no verbs

A

Contains 1 clause

What is a compound sentence?

A
  • Contains more than 1 clause (2 or more simple sentences)
  • All clauses stand alone and are joined with coordinating conjunctions
  • E..g The dog chased the cat and the girl chased the boy

What is a complex sentence?

A
  • 1 clause can stand by itself
  • Other clauses don’t make sense on their own
  • Clauses are linked by subordinating conjunctions
  • The dog (main clause) chased the cat because it hates (subordinate clause) its meow
