What is a minor sentence?
A
- Irregular sentence constructions
- Contain no verbs
- E.g. Ramsay Street, Hello!

A
- Include a clause within the sentence
- E.g. Eastleigh is in Hampshire

A
- A chunk of writing that includes a verb phrase
- E.g. The dog chased the cat

- Simple
- Compound
- Complex

What is a simple sentence?
A
Contains 1 clause

What is a compound sentence?
A
- Contains more than 1 clause (2 or more simple sentences)
- All clauses stand alone and are joined with coordinating conjunctions
- E..g The dog chased the cat and the girl chased the boy

What is a complex sentence?
A
- 1 clause can stand by itself
- Other clauses don’t make sense on their own
- Clauses are linked by subordinating conjunctions
- The dog (main clause) chased the cat because it hates (subordinate clause) its meow
