Sensation
Witnessed through one or more of the 5 senses and the transmission of the info to the brain.
Perception
Process of organizing and interpreting sensory (5 senses) info.
2 Thresholds
Absolute Threshold - weakest among of stimulus that can be sensed.
Difference Threshold - minimum about of difference that can be detected between 2 stimuli.
Illusion
Mistaken perception, 5 senses perceive something that is false or not there.
Hallucination
Feeling something, perception without sensation. More internal.
Delusion
An erroneous belief. Believe something without reason.
Vision
Human’s most important sense. More of the brain is used for vision than any other sense or other specific or dedicated activity. 1/4 of the brain is involved with vision and it’s interpretation.
Rods
Nerve cells that detect lightness and darkness.
Cones
Nerve cells that detect color.
Blindspot
Spot on the eye without nerve cells.
Illusory Correlation
Mistaken perception that 2 unrelated events, items, or behaviors are connected.
